Privacy Policy

Phrase Flip is developed by Alex O'Neill. This policy explains what data Phrase Flip does and does not collect.

No data collection

The Phrase Flip extension does not collect or transmit personal data to the developer. It has no analytics or tracking. This policy describes the extension; the Phrase Flip website uses Google Analytics.

On-device translation

Phrase Flip performs translation entirely on your device and does not send page text to a translation server. On iPhone and iPad, the Bergamot engine and Spanish model are included with the app. When you choose another language, the extension downloads its model files from Mozilla's Firefox Settings CDN and stores them on your device for offline use. The download request reveals the selected language and your IP address to Mozilla. The macOS Safari extension uses Apple's Translation framework.

Preferences

Phrase Flip stores your auto-flip setting, intensity percentage, target language, and excluded websites locally using the browser extension storage API. These preferences are not sent to the developer.

Permissions

The extension reads page text to identify and replace sentences with translations. It processes that text on your device and does not send it or your browsing history to the developer. You control which websites the extension can access in Safari settings.
